Olive Andrews

Conservation International

Olive is the Marine Programme Manager for Conservation International, New Zealand and Pacific Islands where she assists the implementation of the Pacific Oceanscape. She holds a degree in Marine Science and Management from Southern Cross University/The National Marine Science Centre and a Marine Coxswain Ticket.

Olive is a research scientist of the South Pacific Whale Research Consortium (SPWRC), leading whale research projects in Palau and Niue. She has until now, Directed a consultancy, Whaleology where she leads international programs for the research and conservation of whales providing technical advice to Governments and industry on the management of whale watching, and the development of national whale sanctuaries.

She enjoys guiding marine research and tourism expeditions from the tropics to the poles and continues to keep a role as a guest lecturer and zodiac driver on Antarctic expedition ships. When Olive is not at sea or travelling for Conservation International, she resides on Waiheke Island, plays the guitar and makes chutney.
