Kermadecs hit Wellington – Wed, August 24 at 6pm

Wellington followers of the incredible expedition to the Kermadec Islands can join Dr Tom Trnski at Meow Cafe next Wednesday (August 24) at 6pm. Tom will explain what the multi-organisation research team got up to above and below the water during their three weeks in the Kermadecs – the talk includes lots of unpublished photos of the incredible fish and invertebrates the team saw during their dives. Tom, marine curator at Auckland Museum, Tom led the marine survey trip earlier in the year, which found several fish species completely new to science. Come and learn about the voyage’s amazing discoveries. trigger fish

One of the Kermadec finds: This little trigger fish was found when the crew spotted a rare piece of rubbish in Kermadec waters – they scooped out a floating plastic bottle only to find this fish hiding underneath.
