Farewell Raoul

Dinner onboard the Braveheart

We’re about to bid farewell to Raoul, and head south to Macauley Island. We’ll be island hopping our way south for the next week, and hoping for good weather, as there are no sheltered anchorages at the smaller islands.

Our awesome crew are out on deck getting ready for what will be a rough passage to Macauley, as there are some good sized swells rolling through. The crew are stowing as much as possible back in the hold, and lashing down everything moveable to ensure it survives the passage. We’ll all have to make sure we do the same in our cabins.

We have a crew of five on board Braveheart: Matt the skipper, Ash the engineer, Broughton the first mate, Karl the boatman, and Gary the chef.

But that’s just a few of the jobs they do – they all take turns on watch, in the galley, manning the tenders and looking out for the dive teams, making freshwater, and generally ensuring we have a hassle free trip.

The food is fantastic. We are fed a hearty breakfast before we head out for our first dive, a tasty lunch to keep us going through the day, finished off with a hearty tea. We are not losing any weight on this trip, that’s for sure!

This is Richie the photographer, on the wrong side of the lens, enjoying last night’s taste sensation: thai green fish curry.
